So tonight, though I have no screenshots to show for it (sorry... nothing pretty to look at this time), my main task was to try to add some brains to the back-end engine. We've been working mostly on player control and client type stuff lately, since making the move over to Unity 3D, so the back-end engine has sat mostly untouched for a few months. We had a pretty good conversation the other night about getting non-player characters up and running, but ran into some issues shoe-horning an AI system into our current design without having to bend it in ways that would probably result in slowing the engine down considerably. That, of course, kind of defeats the purpose.
BUT
After a quick design conversation, we came up with a pretty cool plan to work the AI engine directly into the rest of the back-end, and circumvent the situation that would have caused issues. All this is to say: Non-player characters, baddies, bosses, creatures, are all coming to Elemental Planes very, very soon. Stay tuned for screenshots and videos as we bring the world to life!
